In the night,
If I just close my eye lids shut
just tight enough,
I can hear the once familiar
Noises again,
The pole cat walking across our roof,
The rahaiyas screaming,
And mom making herself a late night tea.
But just when
The old familiar warmth fills your heart,
You hear speeding passing car
Whooshing past like the wind just below your window,
And you are reminded,
Once again,
You are in a far far far away
From home.
The thoughts, feelings and fears rooted in me that do not have a voice; inked on paper.

Coldheart
You kept her clothed,
You kept her fed,
You gave her a roof,
But
Did you ever love her?
You gave them life,
You gave them food,
You gave them toys,
But
Did you ever ask
What they wanted?
You say you loved them,
But
They didn’t love you?
Did you ever ask?
you say
you gave what they
needed,
did you ever ask
what they wanted?
Love,
Security,
Care?
You gave the other
the love
And them the money,
You gave the other security
And them the money,
You gave the other tenderness
And them,
The coldheart.
You kept her fed,
You gave her a roof,
But
Did you ever love her?
You gave them life,
You gave them food,
You gave them toys,
But
Did you ever ask
What they wanted?
You say you loved them,
But
They didn’t love you?
Did you ever ask?
you say
you gave what they
needed,
did you ever ask
what they wanted?
Love,
Security,
Care?
You gave the other
the love
And them the money,
You gave the other security
And them the money,
You gave the other tenderness
And them,
The coldheart.
The witness
By me
Times were good,
Times were tough,
Times were sunny,
Times were gloomy,
But
You were there,
To Hold my hand,
To stand beside,
To stand behind,
To smile encouragement,
To share,
To witness
The journey.
Now
I stand alone,
No one beside me,
No one behind me,
No one to smile,
No one to share,
No one to witness,
No one.
You were
my only witness.
Times were good,
Times were tough,
Times were sunny,
Times were gloomy,
But
You were there,
To Hold my hand,
To stand beside,
To stand behind,
To smile encouragement,
To share,
To witness
The journey.
Now
I stand alone,
No one beside me,
No one behind me,
No one to smile,
No one to share,
No one to witness,
No one.
You were
my only witness.
