In the night,
If I just close my eye lids shut
just tight enough,
I can hear the once familiar
Noises again,
The pole cat walking across our roof,
The rahaiyas screaming,
And mom making herself a late night tea.
But just when
The old familiar warmth fills your heart,
You hear speeding passing car
Whooshing past like the wind just below your window,
And you are reminded,
Once again,
You are in a far far far away
From home.

Coldheart
You kept her clothed,
You kept her fed,
You gave her a roof,
But
Did you ever love her?
You gave them life,
You gave them food,
You gave them toys,
But
Did you ever ask
What they wanted?
You say you loved them,
But
They didn’t love you?
Did you ever ask?
you say
you gave what they
needed,
did you ever ask
what they wanted?
Love,
Security,
Care?
You gave the other
the love
And them the money,
You gave the other security
And them the money,
You gave the other tenderness
And them,
The coldheart.
You kept her fed,
You gave her a roof,
But
Did you ever love her?
You gave them life,
You gave them food,
You gave them toys,
But
Did you ever ask
What they wanted?
You say you loved them,
But
They didn’t love you?
Did you ever ask?
you say
you gave what they
needed,
did you ever ask
what they wanted?
Love,
Security,
Care?
You gave the other
the love
And them the money,
You gave the other security
And them the money,
You gave the other tenderness
And them,
The coldheart.
The witness
By me
Times were good,
Times were tough,
Times were sunny,
Times were gloomy,
But
You were there,
To Hold my hand,
To stand beside,
To stand behind,
To smile encouragement,
To share,
To witness
The journey.
Now
I stand alone,
No one beside me,
No one behind me,
No one to smile,
No one to share,
No one to witness,
No one.
You were
my only witness.
Times were good,
Times were tough,
Times were sunny,
Times were gloomy,
But
You were there,
To Hold my hand,
To stand beside,
To stand behind,
To smile encouragement,
To share,
To witness
The journey.
Now
I stand alone,
No one beside me,
No one behind me,
No one to smile,
No one to share,
No one to witness,
No one.
You were
my only witness.

Eagle Eyes
Standing at attention,
His eyes scanning the area
Like an eagle looking for a prey,
His gaze slowly
Rests on the two lovers,
Stealing soft kisses…
“About my age”
The soldier thinks,
Drifting in his mind to his own lover,
To the last time he stole a kiss…
Since then
A lot has happened,
His father died,
Mother got sick,
He left for Vanni,
She got married…
Standing at attention
scanning the area again
his eagle like eyes
water’s with tears.
His eyes scanning the area
Like an eagle looking for a prey,
His gaze slowly
Rests on the two lovers,
Stealing soft kisses…
“About my age”
The soldier thinks,
Drifting in his mind to his own lover,
To the last time he stole a kiss…
Since then
A lot has happened,
His father died,
Mother got sick,
He left for Vanni,
She got married…
Standing at attention
scanning the area again
his eagle like eyes
water’s with tears.
The Picture
She was only a piece
of a bigger picture.
Year by year,
The pieces added on,
The picture got completed
27 years
The picture complete
for one brief moment.
Then the wind blew,
Taking with it
The pieces
over the mountains
across the seas,
over unknown lands…
to far far away places.
The picture is no more,
It remains
an incomplete piece of
a bigger picture
again.
She was only a piece
of a bigger picture.
Year by year,
The pieces added on,
The picture got completed
27 years
The picture complete
for one brief moment.
Then the wind blew,
Taking with it
The pieces
over the mountains
across the seas,
over unknown lands…
to far far away places.
The picture is no more,
It remains
an incomplete piece of
a bigger picture
again.
His silence
I miss his voice,
Miss his random replies,
His one word answers,
His monosyllable responses,
His random noises,
his nods,
his gazes,
his shrugs
his eye brow raises,
most of all,
I miss his silence.
Miss his random replies,
His one word answers,
His monosyllable responses,
His random noises,
his nods,
his gazes,
his shrugs
his eye brow raises,
most of all,
I miss his silence.

Forever No More
Forever No More
Diamonds are forever
he said,
when he gave
the Christmas gift.
I'm there always
he said,
This is just a reminder
he said,
putting the necklace around my neck.
That was an year ago,
I tell myself,
Remembering that
Diamonds are gone,
along with him,
Nothing is for ever
Not even
His Love.
Diamonds are forever
he said,
when he gave
the Christmas gift.
I'm there always
he said,
This is just a reminder
he said,
putting the necklace around my neck.
That was an year ago,

Remembering that

Nothing is for ever
Not even
